Printer Watcher
Printer Watcher verifies the printer status and then displays error messages such as the ink remaining amount, etc., on the computer monitor. To use Printer Watcher, set it up in the Printer Setup Wizard dialog box.
 Note:
To add a shortcut icon to the system tray (for Windows) or to start the Printer Watcher when starting your computer (for Mac OS X), see Printer Setup Wizard.
When you run Print Watcher for the first time, Printer Setup Wizard starts. See Printer Setup Wizard for details.

Printer Setup Wizard
You can make settings for monitoring the printer by using the EPSON LFP Remote Panel. You can start the Printer Setup Wizard as follows:

Click the Printer Watcher button in the EPSON LFP Remote Panel main dialog box.

 Note:
When the Printer Watcher is already run, you can open the Printer Watcher Setup Wizard dialog box in the following way.
For Windows: Right-click the Printer Watcher icon on the system tray, and then click Settings.
For Mac OS X: Choose Preferences from the Edit menu to display the Job Information dialog.
Double-click the HDD icon, the Applications folder, the EPSON LFP Remote Panel folder, the Printer Watcher folder, and then the Printer Watcher icon.

Select whether to start this application to monitor the printer when you start your computer, and then click the Next button.
|
 Note:
Unless Printer Watcher runs, error messages and the ink-low message cannot be sent to the computer.
Click the Cancel button to cancel making settings. In other words, all changes made to the settings are canceled.

Select the functions and notification method you want to use, and then click the Next button.

|

If you do not select the Send job information logs by e-mail at regular intervals or Send e-mail check box, go to step 9.

Enter the SMTP server and the sender’s e-mail address. Then click the Next button.
|

|
Enter the name or address of the SMTP server. This is required.
|
Port Number *
|
Enter a port number from 1 to 65535. The default port number is 25. This is required.

Sender’s E-mail Address *
|
Enter the sender’s e-mail address. This is required.

Enter the sender’s name.
|
User Information Settings button
|
When you click this button, the User Information Settings dialog box appears. You can enter the user information that will be added to the body of the e-mail.

Use dial-up connection
|
Select this check box if you use a dial-up connection to send an e-mail. Select the dial-up connection from the list. This item is dimmed if no dial-up connection is set for the operating system.

Set the destination address. You can set up to three addresses. Then click the Next button.
|
If you want to send a test e-mail, click the Send Test E-mail button.

Enter E-mail address for sending messages. Destination Address 1 is required item to input.

Send Test E-mail
|
You can confirm E-mails are sent correctly. The Test E-mail Transmission dialog box is displayed by clicking the Send Test E-mail button. Enter Subject and Messages, then click the Send Test E-mail button to send E-mail.

If you do not select the Send job information logs by e-mail at regular intervals check box in step 2, go to step 7.

Select the destination address and transmission interval that the logs of the print job are sent. Then click the Next button.
|
 Note:
A CSV file of the job information log is attached with an e-mail. A CSV file is created, one for each printer.
A CSV file includes the job information that is acquired during the transmission intervals.

Destination Address
|
Select the destination address for the CSV file of the job information log that is attached to the e-mail.

Transmission Interval
|
Select the transmission interval, either Three Times A Month or Selected Days. The e-mail is sent at regular intervals.

Transmission Date (Transmission Day)
|
Select three days for Transmission Date or preferred days for Transmission Day. You can select up to seven days for Transmission Day.

Transmission Time
|
Select the time that an e-mail is sent.
|
If you do not select the Send e-mail check box in step 3, go to step 9.

Select the information to be sent in the printer status e-mail.
|
Make these settings for each e-mail address. Select the check box you want to include in the e-mail and click the Detailed Settings button, and then select the information to be sent. Then click the Next button.
 Note:
The following items can be sent via e-mail. You can choose which messages are sent or not one in the Detailed Error Settings dialog box.

Destination Address
|
Select the destination address you want to send the printer status information.

Send error information
|
Select this check box to send error information. You can select the following information by clicking the Detailed Settings button: System Error, Operation Error, Ink Error, and Media Error.
Note: The Fatal Error that is included in the System Error is always selected. You cannot clear this check box.

Send warning information
|
Select this check box to send warning information. You can select the following information by clicking the Detailed Settings button: Paper Low Warning, Ink Low Warning, Maintenance cartridge Almost Full Warning, and Maintenance Request.

Send consumable information
|
Select this check box to send consumable information. You can select the following information by clicking the Detailed Settings... button: Ink Levels, Maintenance cartridge Capacity, Media Remaining, and Maintenance Information.
A consumable information cannot be sent if non-Epson ink cartridges and maintenance cartridges are used.

Set the timing for sending the printer status notification e-mails. Then click the Next button.

Transmission Day: Select the day that an e-mail is sent. You can select up to seven days.
Transmission Time: Select the time that an e-mail is sent. You can set up to three transmission times in one day.

Display a sample e-mail.

Select the check box of the printer that you want to monitor, and then click the Next button.

Confirm the settings for monitoring the printer in the dialog box below and then click the Finish button.

Printer Status dialog box
If an error occurs or a warning message is necessary, the Printer Status dialog box appears.
You can display the Printer Status dialog box following ways;
Click the Printer Watcher button in the EPSON LFP Remote Panel main dialog box.
For Windows: Depending on the printer model, the dialog box is displayed using either of the methods below.
Right-click the Printer Watcher icon on the system tray, select Show Printer Status List, and then select the Status Screen check box or double-click on your printer driver to display the Printer Status dialog box.
Right-click the Printer Watcher icon on the system tray, select Show Printer Information, and then click your printer driver.
 Note:
The Printer Status List dialog box cannot be displayed this way. Skip the following explanation for the Printer Status List dialog box.

For Mac OS X: Depending on the printer model, the dialog box is displayed using either of the methods below.
Choose Show Printer Status List from the View menu, and then select the Status Screen check box of the printer driver to display the Printer Status dialog.
Choose Show Printer Information from the View menu and select your printer driver.

Display the cutter life. If the cutter life becomes under 10%,  blinks. If the cutter life becomes under 5%,  blinks.

|
Display the maintenance cartridge status. You can check the free space of the maintenance cartridge. If the maintenance cartridge becomes nearly full,  blinks. If the maintenance cartridge becomes full,  blinks.
Note: The percentage (%) represents a rough estimate.

Media remaining in the printer information
|
Display the media remaining in the printer. You can count the quantity of roll paper or sheet remaining. The maximum and minimum values of the media depend on the settings in the Media Counter Settings dialog box. See Media Counter Settings. If the media is nearly,  blinks. If the media is empty,  blinks.
Note: The meter (m) represents a rough estimate of the media remaining.

Job Information dialog box
You can display the print job information of the printer. Job information is collected at regular interval.
For Windows: Right-click the Printer Watcher icon on the system tray, select Show Printer Status List, and then select the Print Job History check box of the printer driver to display the Job Information dialog box.
For Mac OS X: Choose Show Printer Status List from the View menu, and then select the Print Job History check box of the printer driver to display the Job Information dialog.

File menu

Save to File
|
You can save the print job information as a CSV file. Select Save to CSV File from the File menu.

Delete Log
|
You can delete all print job information displayed in the Job Information dialog box. Select Delete Log from the File menu.
Note: The job information is permanently stored as a log until you delete it. If you do not need the logs any more, delete them by selecting Delete Log from the File menu.

Close
|
Click to Close button to close the dialog box.
|
View menu
|
Unit
|
You can change the unit from meter to foot. Select Unit from the View menu and then select the unit.

Column Settings
|
You can select the items you want to display as job information and change the order in which the items appear. See Setting the job information.

Update Job Info
|
You can update the print job information. Select Update Job Info from the View menu.

Change the job information items in the Job Information dialog box.
Select Column Settings... from the View menu (for Windows) or Edit menu (for Mac OS X) in the Job Information dialog box to display the Column Settings dialog box.
