Media Settings
Select Media Settings from the menu, or click Media Settings on the Printer Status screen.
Normally, perform the following operations from this screen.

Download print setting files (EMX files) provided by Epson

Register media settings in the EMX file to the printer

Edit Parameters
An EMX file is a single print settings file containing the following information necessary to print properly on commercially available media.

Media settings: Settings to register to the printer (you can register to the target printer on this screen)
When printing using media settings that you registered for the first time, make sure you perform media adjustment. See the manual provided with the printer for more information on media adjustment.

Print information: Settings for ICC profiles that are used in RIP, the number of passes, the resolution, and so on.
For the method to set RIP print information, see "Manual for RIP Printing". By clicking

, you can see the "Manual for RIP Printing" from the Manuals tab in the Software Available List.

When the media registration screen is displayed, click

to refresh the

list, and then perform copying and editing.

To register media settings for another printer, click the tab for the target printer.

Source

Select the source file used to add or change the media settings for the printer selected in  .
Click  for the source file, and then select from the following items.
When Local Media Library is selected:
By downloading the print setting file provided by Epson (EMX), and then loading the media settings from the EMX file, you can display the source media settings list (  ).
 When you select Local Media Library,  and   are displayed on the right.
 When loading the source media settings list for an EMX file copied to a different computer, use the  button to load. Click this to display the file selection screen and then select the EMX file that you copied to load the file. A maximum of 50 EMX files can be loaded at one time. The media settings of the files that are loaded are added to the  list. After loading the settings once, you just need to select Local Media Library the next time to display it in the  list.
 Click  to delete the EMX files that have been downloaded. In the  list, select the EMX files that you no longer use or that you downloaded by accident, and then click  .
When a printer is selected:
The settings for the media registered to the printer (1 to 30) are loaded and displayed in the source media settings list (  ). When you select a different printer and load the media settings, all of the content in the media settings list are overwritten by the newly selected printer's.
When Custom Media Backup (cpb) is selected:
A CPB file allows you to select, load, and display the source media settings list (  ).
 A CPB file acquires the media settings registered to the printer (1 to 30) in one file, and saves it to your computer. Click  (  ) to save the content of the target media settings list (  ) as a file.
 When this is selected and you click  on the right, a file selection screen is displayed. When you select and load the target file, the media settings (1 to 30) for the source media settings list (  ) are displayed.

Source media settings list
|
Displays a list of the media settings loaded in  . When you are registering a different model of printer, only the media settings that can be used with the model you selected are displayed. Media Name is shown in English. You can confirm the display name in the download screen by putting the mouse pointer over the English name. (Not displayed when Custom Media Backup (cpb) is selected.)
 From this list, select the media settings that you want to add/change for the target printer.
 Click the media settings you want to copy, and then click the number to which you want to apply the settings in the target media settings list (  ). Click  to copy the settings. However, the set values are not copied because the optimum values for Media Adjust are different for each machine. Click the Apply button to register the media settings to the printer. After that, do Media Adjust to optimize the set values to match the conditions, such as the width of the loaded media, and whether the automatic take-up unit is setup.
 When loading media settings for an EMX file from Local Media Library, you cannot select multiple source files. Copy them one at a time.
 When loading media settings or a CPB file registered in a printer,  is displayed in the list. When you click  , all of the settings in the list are selected as the source.

Parameters list (Source)

Displays the settings for the media settings clicked in  .

Displays the name of the printer selected in  .

 Click  to return any changes you made to media settings selected from the list in  to their defaults. However, you cannot reset the changed items after you click the Apply button.
 Click  to collect the media settings displayed in the list in  and save them to a single file on your computer. You can use the saved file (CPB file) as a backup file. This allows you to register these settings to another printer and use them as shared media settings. You can load the file saved here by selecting Custom Media Backup (cpb) as the source  . If the current tab shows the name of the printer that is connected via USB, note the following points when writing to a file.
Notes on writing to a file
 Click  to display a list of the following information for all the media settings currently registered to the printer selected in  .
 Media Setting Name (name of settings registered on the printer's control panel)
 Media Name (EMX file information *2)
 Media Type (information registered on the printer's control panel)
 Media Vendor (EMX file information *2)
You can print a list using the browser's functions by clicking Print on the list display screen.

Target media settings list
|
Displays the media settings (1 to 30) registered to the printer selected in  . The name of the settings registered to the printer is shown in Media Name. You can confirm the display name in the download screen by putting the mouse pointer over the English name. (This is not displayed when media settings registered on the printer's control panel are selected.)
  indicates the media settings currently specified in the printer.
 When you select a number to create new media settings and click  , the media settings screen is displayed.
New Media Settings
 When you select a media setting and click  , the Edit screen is displayed, and you can edit the media settings.
Edit Parameters screen
  indicates media settings copied from the source media settings list (  ), or settings that were changed on the Edit screen. When  is displayed,  is grayed out and the list cannot be updated until you click the Apply button.

Parameters list (Target)

Displays the settings for the media settings clicked in  .

Apply button
|
Click to update media settings for the target printer using the content of the current  list.
Click the Apply button after confirming that the printer status icons on the tab are  (Ready). If the icon is anything except for  , you cannot update the media settings for the target printer.
For printers connected by USB, the status icon on the tab does not indicate the current status. Make sure that printing is not being performed, and then click Apply.

Click to display the menu. The following items are available from the menu.
 Home Displays the Home screen.
 Media Settings You can download print setting files provided by Epson (EMX), which allow you to easily register the optimum print settings for the media being used.
 Printer Status Allows you to check the same content as the printer's screen.
 Information Allows you to check information items as a list.
 Printer Registration This software allows you to register, change, and unregister printers targeted for operations and monitoring.
 Preferences You can set up and change a proxy server.
 LFP Accounting Tool You can only start the LFP Accounting Tool when the LFP Accounting Tool provided by Epson is installed.

Click to display Software Available List (Epson's website). If you select the country or region in which you live and the model you are using, you can check the following information about supported RIP.
 General Info. tab: You can check the latest information about supported RIP.
 Manuals tab: You can download manuals for RIP printing.

Downloading Print Settings Files
When you select
Local Media Library as the source (

) and then click

, the following download screen is displayed.
A list of commercially available media and EMX files is displayed.
You can narrow the content of the list to only the necessary EMX files by clicking Region, Media Vendor, Media Type, selecting the printer model name, and then clicking Search.

Select the EMX files to download.

You can select all EMX files displayed on the current page by clicking

to the right of
Search. The following describes how to select multiple EMX files at once.

For Windows/Linux: Hold the
Ctrl key while selecting the necessary EMX files in order.

For Mac OS X: Hold the
command key while selecting the necessary EMX files in order.
Acquisition Complete is shown in the Status of EMX files that have already been downloaded. You cannot download a file that shows Acquisition Complete. When Update Available appears in Status, it indicates that the EMX file was updated after it was acquired. Downloading EMX files that show Update Available overwrites any files that have already been downloaded.
 Important:
The values set for Media Adjust are initialized when the EMX file of the same media for which Update Available was displayed for the media setting values already registered to the printer. When it has been overwritten, click the Apply button to register the media settings to the printer. After that, do Media Adjust to optimize the set values to match the conditions, such as the width of the loaded media, and whether the automatic take-up unit is setup.

Click Download.

EMX files are downloaded one at a time. Wait until the Status for all the files becomes Acquisition Complete when you have selected multiple EMX files.
Clicking Cancel Download stops the EMX file download. When the download is cancelled, EMX files for which the Status is Acquisition Complete are saved.
Note:
You cannot change the location in which the EMX file is saved. When you copy the downloaded EMX file to another computer, do a Copy Folder Path in the Preferences screen.

Click Close.

The media settings in the EMX file are read and displayed in the source media settings list (

) in the Media Settings screen.
New Media Settings
You can newly register media settings for the setting number selected in the target media settings list (

).
When you click the media settings number for the registration target and then click

, the following media settings screen is displayed. The setting items vary according to the model being used.
Selecting the
Media Type reflects the reference values that match the standard media specifications selected in Media Type. Do edits as needed for the optimum setting values of your media. When you click the
OK button, the set content is registered to the media setting number selected from the

list.
When you click the Apply button to register media settings to the printer, adjust the media to optimize the settings based on the conditions such as the loaded media width or whether or not the auto take-up unit is connected.
Note:
When you download an EMX file, you can print it easily using the optimum settings for the media being used to guarantee high quality printing.
Edit Parameters screen
You can change the settings for the item selected in the target media settings list (

).
When you click the media settings you want to change and then click

, the following Edit screen is displayed.
The setting items vary according to the model being used.
The parameters for the currently selected media settings are displayed. Change the parameters depending on the printer being used.
You can enter a note in Memo to describe the content of the media settings.
Only Media Type is displayed. This cannot be changed.
When you have finished making changes, click the OK button. The changes are applied and you are returned to the previous screen.
If you click the Cancel button, the changes are not applied and you are returned to the previous screen.
Notes on selecting printers
The media settings stay the same as before updates even if you update the media settings on the printer after loading the settings when registering the printer with this software.
Before selecting the printer in Source (

), click the tab for the target printer, click

, and then reload the media settings. When you perform an update, the update date and time is displayed below the target media settings list (

).
Make sure that the source printer for loading the media settings is not printing, and then click

. Also, while loading media settings, an

icon is displayed on the tab. When the

icon disappears, click the tab for the target printer, and then select the printer in Source. Do not perform printing while the

icon is displayed.
Notes on writing to a file
The content of the Target media settings list (

) is not updated automatically. Once displayed in the list, the information before updating remains even if you update the media settings on the printer.
Click

on the left, update the content of the target media setting list (

), and then click

. When you perform an update, the update date and time is displayed below the list.
Make sure that the source printer for loading the media settings is not printing, and then click

. Also, while loading media settings, an

icon is displayed on the tab. When the

icon disappears, click

. Do not perform printing while the

icon is displayed.
