Search Parameters
You can search for devices on the network by specifying an IP address, a range of IP addresses, or a network address as the search key.
Search with IP address

Displays registered IP addresses.

|
Displays the Add IP Address dialog box. Enter the IP address, and then click OK.You can register up to 100 IP addresses.

Removes an IP address from the List box.

Moves the selected item down.

|
Reverts the device to the factory default settings.

Add IP Address

Explanation

IP Address
|
Enter the IP address (valid range 0 to 255) for the device you want to find. Enter 0 for the host address.
|
If a device is found, register to My Device.
|
Select to register the found device to a group specified in My Device.
|
OK button
|
Saves the settings.
|
Cancel button
|
Cancels any changes.
|
 Note:
- If you try to add an incorrect IP address, the “Invalid IP address.” message is displayed. Check the correct network address and enter it again.
- If you try to add the same IP address, the “The IP address entered is already in use.” message is displayed. This indicates that the address cannot be added.

Search with range of IP addresses

Select to search for devices on the network using the specified range of IP addresses.

Search Range of IP addresses
|
Displays the range of IP addresses used for searching.
|
Add button
|
Enter the start and end IP address used for searching. You can register up to 20 ranges of IP addresses.
|
Change button
|
Change the registered range of IP addresses.
|
Delete button
|
Remove the registered range of IP addresses.
|
Restore to default settings button
|
Returns the Search with range of IP addresses settings to its default settings.
|
OK button
|
Saves the settings.
|
Cancel button
|
Cancels any changes.

Specify the range of IP addresses

Explanation

Start Address
|
Enter the start address that you want to use when searching between 0 and 255.
|
End Address
|
Enter the end address that you want to use when searching between 0 and 255.
|
OK button
|
Saves the settings.

|
Cancels any changes.

 Note:
- You cannot use a registered range of IP addresses and a duplicated range of IP addresses when searching.
- You can enter up to 65535 addresses for the range of IP addresses.

Search with network address

Enable Search Using Multicast Packet
|
Select to enable the multicast search.
|
Enable Search for a Network Outside the Router
|
Select to search for a device on an external network.
|
Search Address
|
The registered network addresses and subnet masks are displayed.
|
Network Address
|
The registered network addresses are displayed.
|
Subnet Mask
|
The registered subnet masks are displayed.
|
Add button
|
The Add Network Address dialog box appears. Enter the network address and subnet mask, and then click OK to register the network addresses (up to 20 addresses). Do not add the network address if it is in the same segment.

Delete button
|
Removes a network address and its subnet mask from the List box.
|
Multicast TTL (1-15)
|
Enter the number of routers through which a packet can travel before being discarded or returned when using multicast search (between 1 and 15). This item is enabled only when both Enable Search Using Multicast Packet and Enable Search for a Network Outside the Router check boxes are selected and one or more network addresses are registered.

Restore to default settings button
|
Reverts the Search with network address settings to the factory default settings.
|
OK button
|
Saves the settings.
|
Cancel button
|
Cancels any changes.

 Note:
To enable the multicast search, select both Enable Search Using Multicast Packet and Enable Search for a Network Outside the Router check boxes and add more than one network address to the list box.

Add Network Address

Network Address
|
Enter the network address (valid range 0 to 255) of the device you want to find. Enter 0 for the host address.

|
Enter the subnet mask for the network address.

 Note:
- If you try to add an incorrect network address, the “The network address XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX that you entered will be added to the list as XXX.XXX.XXX.X.” message is displayed. Check the correct network address, and then click OK to add it to the list.
- If you try to add an incorrect network address, the “Invalid IP address.” message is displayed. Check the correct network address and enter it again.
- If you try to add the same network address, the “The IP address entered is already in use.” message is displayed. This indicates that the address cannot be added.
